GOFFSTOWN – The Goffstown Select Board announces the promotion of Deputy Fire Chief Benjamin Selleck as the next Fire Chief for the Goffstown Fire Department. Chief Selleck will take over the role of Fire Chief on Monday, December 29, 2025, upon the retirement of Fire Chief Shawn Murray.
Chief Selleck was hired by the Town of Goffstown to serve as the Deputy Fire Chief for Goffstown in June 2023. Chief Selleck has 28 years of fire, rescue, and EMS experience. Deputy Chief Selleck has his MBA, specializing in Human Resources and Leadership, from Southern New Hampshire University and bachelor’s degree from Colby-Sawyer College. He is a certified Paramedic; has multiple certifications in Incident Command & Planning, technical rescue, and instructor in various fields of fire, rescue, and EMS; and has written, received, and managed more than $2.4 Million in training and equipment grants.
Chief Shawn Murray’s upcoming retirement will be effective December 28, 2025. Chief Murray is retiring from Goffstown Fire Department after a collective 15 years of fire and EMS service to the Town of Goffstown Fire Department; May 1989 - May 2001, and May 2022 - December 2025 when he returned as Fire Chief. Chief Murray started his firefighting Career in the US Air Force in September of 1980.
